When it comes to people who are interested in becoming a car hauler, one of the many questions I get asked is, “How the hell did you manage to get car hauling job moving high ends cars at that, with no experience?” Usually followed by a “no offense”.  Ah! Wait one second while I grab a glass of wine. (Insert the sound of a cork popping out of a bottle of California wine.) Okay, so now I’m ready to talk about this topic.

I don’t blame you guys for wondering that. Heck, if I was in your shoes, I would ask the same thing. Some might call it luck. Some might say it was because I am a girl. Others might argue that I probably was sleeping with the owner. But none of those assumptions are true. The reason I was able to get a car hauling job was simply because of my “drive”.

How bad do you want a car hauling job?

I learned at an early age that if you want to be successful or want to do anything, you have to zone out the noise and do it. You have to put your best foot forward, find what makes you great and then use that to your advantage. I never liked focusing on my weaknesses because they make me sad. It’s easy to say:

But I’m not experienced…

But there’s someone out there better than me. I don’t know what I am doing. Maybe they will look past me because… Insert whatever that reason is. But in reality there are tons of reasons why you are the perfect person for the job. There is at least one reason why you ARE the better choice. Why you will make the better employee. Why you are the man or woman for the job! This goes back to why I like to focus on my strengths and bury those damn weaknesses.

When you choose to do this, you become unstoppable, you become epic!

This is why I was offered an office job at IBM after only working there for 6 months at 18 years old. This is why when I worked at the Gap distribution center loading trailers, they wanted to move me up to supervisor after 3 months. Why as a senior in high school, I became assistant manager at a clothing store in the mall and had the owner begging me to consider the manager position. How I taught myself photography while driving a truck and grew my photography business to number one in the search results for my area. Why I made thousands of dollars in a pillow making business when I knew nothing about pillows, interior design or ecommerce. How I taught myself web design and to this day, have people offering me $5k to build custom websites for their brands. Why companies pay me thousands to consult them on growing their businesses and yet I don’t have a degree in business or heck a college degree at all….

And more importantly, this is how I scored a car hauling job with no experience when my license was so fresh it should be illegal.
