Are you wondering whether you should use Auto Transport Brokers or Auto Carriers? Then you have come to the right page.
Okay so onto the juicy stuff. Some people believe it is better to deal directly with the carrier and avoid the auto transport brokers because it will increase your auto transport rate, because “auto transport brokers are just the middleman”, and because auto transport brokers promise you the world and give you nothing. { I made a whole video about that. You can see the ReloGeek Episode on How Trusting Auto transport Brokers is like a one night stand here.}
From the other side of the mountain, auto transport carriers have a limited number of trucks usually covering a very specific area every week. When their spaces are filled, they can only offer you later pickup dates when they will be available for shipping not necessarily when you need your car shipped. A lot of the bigger auto transport companies {Intercity, Reliable, Exotic Car Transport of Orlando, etc…} have three to four week waiting periods during the busy season. In general, when you choose to go directly with an auto transport carrier versus using auto transport brokers, it will require a lot of hard work on your part to find an available and dependable carrier that covers your exact route exactly when you need them.
On the other hand, auto transport brokers have connections with a large number of carriers, and can easily make arrangements that caters to you. Please note, some auto transport brokers will use terminal shipping. Here at ReloGeek, I don’t believe in terminal to terminal shipping unless it’s to the port. Your car will always be shipped nonstop with door to door service.
Another downside to dealing with the carrier directly is that you may find it difficult to reach them when you need updates on your vehicle’s location. This is not always the case, as some independent mom and pop carriers believe in customer service and creating relationships- but trying to vet them will be a task. You don’t know how to sort through each carrier, what to look for as far as insurance requirements and what to do in the event of damage. That’s why turning to auto transport brokers is a viable option.
A lot of auto transport carriers do not want the customers calling them all the time so do not be alarmed if your calls go unanswered. Heck, I’ve done that a few times in my trucking days. On the other side of that, carriers have no choice but to answer the auto transport brokers call. They want to develop a relationship with the auto transport brokers because they depend on us to fill their trucks.
Essentially, it is up to you on whether you should choose to go with auto transport brokers or dealing with a carrier directly. Which ever route you choose to take, just make sure you remember to go with your gut and choose a company that’s in line with your auto transport needs.
